what do i need to do to play online, do i have to buy that gamespy thing or whatever

You only need teh game to play online. Gamespy is a free program that helps find servers but BF2 has its one server browser.

For the PC, it's built in. What platform?

Not that I know of... and Gamespy is free last time I checked (I have always hated Gamespy.) Then again, knowing the way this **** face industry is going, it's not free anymore. Might as well check.
