Whys my programs crashing?

Hey Guys, I just formated my computer yesterday and put on a fresh copy of XP Professional, installed all the drivers(I think) and I have been having some problems. All my programs on here are sketchy, some times they open and some times I get a crash report, and some times I just can't open the program at all, its getting on my nerves and I can't figure out the problem. I read that it my be a registry file I could fix with a registry cleaner, so I installed one and it found like 182 problems, but the problems still exist. I installed a game, and GameSpy just now, and both keep crashing, I can open the game, but it crashes when I try to start a mission(maybe graphics problem?). Now when I try to open the registry cleaner it errors too, when I download drivers from the manufactures websites, its seems to corrupt all the files, because they won't open, just error out. I don't think its a virus in anyway, its been going on since it first came up.

Any help guys?

Ive got an AMD 64 Athlon x2 3800

1GB Ram

512 Radeon X1600 Pro

And a good copy of XP Professional

Thanks, I hope I can get this solved fast

It might be that your memory has gone bad.

Try memtest to check for errors and see if it comes up with anything.
