Counter Strike?

In 2002, i used to be able to play Counter Strike and Half life on a gamespy engine/browser thing. But now i have to play CS, CS:S and HL1 & 2 on steam. What was that gamespy thing called?

Im not sure what its called, but what ever it is its probably against the rules now..

All of them games now HAVE to be played through steam.

So i probably wouldn't bother trying to find it as your steam account will simply be deleted and maybe even an IP ban... which means no more CS for you :P

Originally, Half-Life was designed to be played on the WON (World Opponent Network). I'm not sure if that was associated with Gamespy in any way though.
