I need help on Gamespy.?

I want to play Age of Empires multiplayer but it keeps giving me the message that i need to activate some port or turn off my fire wall. What does this mean? It also mentions proxy something if that helps.

i think u r under a NAT router i.e. ur internal and external ips are different. sometimes the ISPs have this installed and u cant do nething abt it.
