Sims 3 - Big Brother is watching??? "Gamespy" on my pc?

Read this on AMZON:

"EXCERPT FROM EA - [..] THIS GAME INCLUDES SOFTWARE THAT COLLECTS DATA ONLINE NECESSARY TO PROVIDE IN-GAME ADVERTISING [..]

DRM - Though not confirmed, it's likely to be the controversial SecuROM v7. I'll update this when EA announce more details.

Is there a way of disabling this? I really don't fancy ads like that and some software basically spying on me when I am using my pc really puts me off!

Any ideas?

of course not.EA is desperate for money right now.it's their game, they can do whatever they want.once you buy the game you need to do online activation and have internet connection before you start playing it.or else the game won't run.

there's nothing you can do about it.if you want to play Sims 3 you have to accept their policy.and this is the reason i'm saying no to Sims 3.EA have no right to put something risky into my computer.i had enough with this greedy money sucking company.is it safe to receive advertising while playing the game? hell no! coz i call it spying.

If they insist on spying on me while i'm on the computer then i won't buy their game. People should protest against it. Not that it would do anything =/

Almost certainly not. EA makes money from the adverts in game, and so they won't let people disable it.

You might be able to get around it by unplugging your internet when you play though, as then there'd be no way for the game to send the data.

But the information sent will be encoded etc. and won't be given to third parties, just used by EA itself. If they did give it out ( without your consent) that would be illegal.
