What is the official video game awards?

Alright well i dont know about you but it really annoys me how there is way more than one official game award. Like they have Spike TV game awards which sucked by the way and they have like gamepro game of the year, gamespy, ign, ect. For movies they have the oscars that is it. My question is since they have alot of stations that host their own stupid show. What is top dog of the game of the year shows?

For movies they have Peoples choice, Oscars, MTV movie awards, Golden Globes, and that is just part of the list. There is no "official" award for anything, music is the same as well as television, different groups give out awards when they feel like it, some are just more popular and more well known.
