How to play games online ?

hi i want to play americas army online ... what is all that server list refresh ping server etc ? give me a good site so i can understand the terms of online playing . are there any free servers ? also why is something called gamearcade or gamespy trying to install itself at the same time as installing americas army and trying to sell me subscription . i thought it is a free FPS .....what is xfire ... it came in the bundle too

They have hundreds of free online games, plus they have this "full screen" mode where the game literally takes up the whole screen. No ads or any crap like that.

Server ping refers to the connection speed you have with the game server. The higher the ping number, the slower your connection is. Which means you'll experience lots of lags.

Gamearcarde and Gamespy are two famous game review websites. They are there because the game is sponsored/connected to them in some way. They are not some web spamming sites. You always have the option NOT to subscribe.

xFire is a chatting software like Yahoo!Messenger, MSN Messenger etc. xFire are mainly used for games because it can detect the list of games (which support xFire) installed on your computer and will automatically show them to other xFire users so that they have a clear idea what game they can play together with you (while chatting over speaker).

you should have an option in America's Army for multiplayer.

If not, you can install gamespy and use that to find servers for your game. Gamespy is free, but you may get some spyware , so I would check the game itself and see if there is a multiplayer option.

Servers are where you can play online, and server list refresh just refreshes the list of available servers. As far as ping goes, all you really need to know is that a lower ping means more fluid gameplay. You will not experience as much lag on servers with lower ping, and the game will run smoother.

i dont recommend gamespy,it messes up your pc.

Server list is the list of servers, which are groups of people, and that server is hosted by one person in there, you usually have you click the server and then find and click the "Join Server" button.

Refresh refreshes the server list.

Ping is like the speed, usually, something like 200 ping is good, while something like 1300 ping is laggy.

Online games except things like WoW and stuff are usually free, and I wouldn't install Gamespy acrade, because gamespy is horrible.

xFire is like instant messenger for computer games.

It displays what game your playing to people on your friends list on it, finds servers for you, ect.
