Medal of Honor Allied Assault online multiplayer help...PC?

I'm having trouble playing MOHAA online. The servers come up, but when in join, it never loads and tells me the connection times out. I know there has to be a way other than gamespy to play.

BTW, i did download the latest patch.

but when i get into the server and i chose my gun, and start... i have no gun!
