Rise of Nations question?

I just got the game and i wanted to play a friend (neighbor) but it wouldnt let me. I tried to make a profile under the gamespy matchmaking and i put in all of the correct stuff. i clicked create profile and it says login failed? im not trying to login im trying to create! help?

i'm not so sure about this as i play the trial version or RoN but gamespy is not that reliable as once i tried gamespy with another game and i could'nt login, not even to the create profile page!You may try the RoN website for answers.
